Add a product

All instructions require logging in.
 
Adding a product.
 
  1. Click on “catalog”
  2. Click down to the category you want the product.
  3. Click “new product”
  4. Fill out the form including contents and image.
    1. Type in the text and format
    2. Use the image editor to upload and place images.
    3. See www.ims-vs.com for instructions on editing.
  5. Click “preview” to bring up the preview.
  6. Click “Insert” to complete phase 1 of the new product entry.
  7. Step 2 involves adding options. 
    1. Click “catalog” and look for the link to "product attributes" in the left column and click it.
    2. There are three tables.  The one you want is "product attributes".  You may have to scroll down to see it.
    3. Using the left pull-down at the bottom, select the product you're creating.
    4. Use the next pull-down to select the option type such as size or color
    5. Use the next pull-down to select the option value such as brown.  You're entering one at a time.  If an option like size has LOTS of choices that will be used for other products, you should use "attribute sets".
    6. Click  "insert"
    7. Repeat until all values for that option are inserted.
    8. Go to the product and see your work.  You have to go all the way to the on-line catalog to see the option selector.  Get there by clicking on "on-line catalog in the upper right section of the web page.
  8. If you have an attribute set created, it’s easy.
    1. Click “catalog” and click through until you get to the page with all the products.  Find and click on the product of interest.
    2. Click “edit” which brings up the product edit page.
    3. Click on “add A.S.”  It’s near the top.
    4. Select the attribute set you want.
    5. Click “preview”
    6. Click “insert”
 
You’re done for the basics. 
 
HINTS:
  • Images for the product should be square.  Otherwise, parts of the image will be cut off or distorted in the thumbnail.
  • Make the image the maximum size you want it.  The software will automatically make the thumbnail and the middle size for the product description.  When you click on the image in the product description, the picture is shown in the size you created.
