Tables not tabs

By Howard Hayakawa of iMakeSense.com

You will eventually want to place something other than right justified, left justified or centered.

You will also be tempted to move things using TAB or SPACEs.  Don't!   This will provide unpredictable looking pages for visitors even if you get it to look OK on your screen.

The simplest solution for non-programmers is the use of tables.   We'll use some examples to show how they're used.

Go to www.ims-demo.com to practice.  Login, pick a page and edit.

First a list of menu items with prices.  Two columns with a 5 rows.
  1. Add table using the table icon
  2. Fill in the blanks.  In this example,
    1. 4 rows and 2 columns
    2. width 70%
    3. click OK
  3. In the top row, enter  the words  "item" and "price"
  4. In the left column enter, 'fajita', 'taco' and 'coke' in the three rows
  5. In the right column enter prices.  Any will do for an example.
  6. Place cursor in the box with the word 'Item" and click on the  icon
  7. Repeat with the 'price'
  8. submit
You should now have a menu with two columns in the center of the page.

If you want, you can move items to either side or center of each cell.

To make the border go away, click on the   icon and set the border to zero.
